iPixel is a fractional ablative laser. It removes microscopic columns of skin in a grid pattern and leaves untouched skin around each one. That's what shortens recovery compared with fully ablative laser — while still reaching deep enough to work on scars and deeper lines.
In the weeks after treatment the skin repairs itself and builds new collagen across the treated area. The change comes in gradually over the following months, and scarring usually needs a course of sessions. Results vary from person to person.
